WHAT DOES INNOVATION MEAN FOR MAGNETI MARELLI, AND HOW DOES THE MOTORSPORT DEPARTMENT SPUR IDEA GENERATION THROUGH AN OPEN APPROACH?
Since its birth, Magneti Marelli has placed innovation among the set of strategic issues for the company’s sustainable development and growth.
For example, between 1924 and 1942 we were one of the first large industries in Italy to undertake the path of corporate communication by publishing the legendary in-company magazine Sprazzi e Bagliori, founded and run by Noël Caterino Giulio Quintavalle.
Today, the constant listening of stakeholders’ future needs spurs Magneti Marelli Motorsport to focus both on product and process innovations (related for example to performance and safety issues), acknowledging the importance to open and broaden the barriers between race experts and other stakeholders.
The ability to leverage user-generated ideas and suggestions with curiosity and no fear is the greatest challenge for open innovation, and a project like the LapTime Club will be precious to reach this final goal.
WHAT IS THE LAPTIME CLUB? WHICH ARE THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THIS SOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECT?
The LapTime Club is the new international social innovation community powered by Magneti Marelli Motorsport, specifically designed to foster ideas and suggestions about telemetry, electronic and electromagnetic systems.
Its first main goal is to increase the sources of inspiration needed to effectively and efficiently think about the racing world’s future.
The LapTime Club becomes somewhat a cultural project, useful to spread the motorsport culture and obtain benefits – growth, increase of innovation through collaboration – for all the Magneti Marelli company and other industry players.
Finally, we hope in the near future the LapTime Club will also become a precious pool of young and breakthrough talents to get in touch and collaborate with.
WHAT IS THE MAIN REASON TO ENJOY THE LAPTIME CLUB?
It is important to register to the LapTime Club community mainly in order to feel part of the worldwide racing world. Each enrolled member will contribute in developing and innovating the motorsport industry. The project’s final aim is not to look for solutions, but instead to discover new needs, problems to fix and opportunities through a ‘would be nice if’ approach.
HOW TO REGISTER TO THE LAPTIME CLUB?
The registration process is quite simple: every motorsport technology enthusiast, technical expert and – in general – each person interested in technical issues related to the motorsport world can go to the project website, register in a few clicks and instantly start fueling and sharing ideas about telemetry, electronic and electromagnetic systems. The best ones will be evaluated and awarded, thus becoming real technological projects.
